Carol Aldana has worked in healthcare since 1987.  She first joined the Joint Replacement Institute in 1996 as Patient Relations Coordinator.  During the transition to St. Vincent Medical Center, she assumed the duty of Administrative Assistant.  She is responsible for the daily administrative operations for Dr. Schmalzried’s practice and coordinates his surgery scheduling.  Carol graduated from Phoenix University in 2011 with a B.S. degree in Business Administration.

SURGICAL STAFF


Debbie Cook, PA-C has worked in the field of orthopaedics for 20 years.  She received her B.S. degree in Sports Medicine from Pepperdine University in 1994 and her M.S. degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine/Arizona School of Health Sciences in 1999.  Her focus for the last seven years has been on joint replacement, mainly that of the hip and knee joints.  She joined the Joint Replacement Institute in July 2006.

Pang Lam, RN has been a registered nurse specializing in orthopaedic surgery for the past 11 years.  Pang began working at the Joint Replacement Institute after the transition to St. Vincent Medical Center in 2007.  He plays a key role in coordinating the logistics of the operating room and contributing to the efficiency of all our surgeries.  Prior to joining JRI, he worked with the Arthritis Institute at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center and Centinela Hospital Medical Center.

 

RESEARCH STAFF

Mylene dela Rosa is a native of the Philippines.  She graduated from the University of Southern California in 1993 with a B.S. degree in Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering.  As Clinical Research Coordinator, Mylene is responsible for various aspects of Dr. Schmalzried’s and Dr. Mynatt’s clinical study trials.  She maintains relations with study sponsors and with the Institutional Review Board.  She is responsible for data collection and database management related to Dr. Schmalzried’s and Dr. Mynatt’s patients. Mylene originally joined the staff of the Joint Replacement Institute in 1993 as a Research Technician in the Implant Retrieval Lab.
